Cheryl Cole on "crazy" Nicole Scherzinger: She kept singing in my face
The Girls Aloud member, who was replaced by Scherzinger on The X Factor USA's first season last year, recalled the "embarrassing" and "awkward" rendition of her three-and-a-half minute single in her upcoming autobiography.
In an extract of Cheryl - My Story leaked on Twitter ahead of its release tomorrow (October 11), Cole wrote: "The first time I met Nicole was when she was performing on The X Factor in London.
"'Oh my God, Cheryl! You're just as pretty in real life! I heard your song on the radio!' she had gushed. It was really embarrassing.
"Then she started singing 'Promise This' to me, and I swear to God the woman sang the whole song, to my face. It w! as just so awkward, and every time I stood next to her she started singing it again."
She continued: "I thought how that would be like me going up to Britney and singing the whole of 'Baby, One More Time' in her face. Can you imagine how weird that would be?"
Cole met Scherzinger again during production of The X Factor USA, where the 'Don't Hold Your Breath' star was initially serving as co-host with Steve Jones.
"Nicole was singing and dancing to her own songs, and I found that a bit crazy and odd," she said.
Cole also accused her former boss Simon Cowell of "acting like a weirdo" on the first day of X Factor USA in the extract.
