Cheryl Cole left red faced after mic malfunction in charity telethon

London, Oct 20 (ANI): Cheryl Cole was left embarrassed in front of millions of TV viewers after her microphone malfunctioned during the Stand Up To Cancer charity telethon on Friday.

As Ashley Cole's former wife took to the stage ready to perform her act, it appeared that only the backing track to 'Call My Name' was playing, the Daily Mail reported.

While the cause of the apparent mic failure is not known, fans were left baffled as the 29-year-old singer appeared to be whispering along to her track for the entire first half of the track.

Around halfway through the track the mic came back to life, with Cole's voice finally being audible above the backing track.

Later, host Davina McCall rushed on stage to give Cole a huge hug and said, "Tonight is about making a difference, and that's what's important."

A spokesperson for Channel 4 said, "Unfortunately with the nature of live TV you sometimes have glitches and this was the case with Cheryl's mic in the opening number and was rectified as soon as possible."

Brushing the incident aside, Cole wrote on her Twitter page, "I really dn't feel upset abt the tec issues during my performance and chat.. I just hope every1 commenting on it has done their part 4 the cause. (sic)" (ANI)
