It's always a huge success when a star visits their hometown after having found success and fame - so imagine the reception when Geordie lass Cheryl Cole visited Newcastle yesterday to attend an album signing, following her huge success recently with 'Call My name'.

The singer decided against the snazzy clothes however, and opted for a more casual appearance - to match her 'Chezza from the block' attitude'.

The 28 year old donned jeans and a vest top, teamed with a grey and black blazer. Some are saying that the former X Factor judge should've dressed a little more OTT and made more of an effort for the fans, some of whom had camped out the night before just to catch a glimpse of their fave female.

However, dress or no dress - Cheryl still looked great as always!

Chezza also made time to stop off at a school in the city for her charity 'The Cheryl Cole Foundation'. She tweeted: 'SO to everyone i met today and thank you for all my gifts/early birthday presents ! You're so thoughtful and kind..' (sic)

Equipped with sleeping bags and tents, teens came from the local area and neighbouring Sunderland and Stockton to sleep in Northumberland Street ahead of meeting Miss Cole.

There efforts didn't go unnoticed as Cheryl said: 'I hear some of you are camping out already in Newcastle *bbmcantwatchface*.. I hope your all good !! Stay safe.. I'm on my wayyyyy .. :D'

Yesterday she was again signing albums at another HMV store in London, and she fielded several questions about the direction of her music.

Speaking to RWD TV, she said: "It's definitely got an urban feel but there is loads of sounds on there, there's dub step on there, there is dance as you've heard with ! the Calv in Harris record. Even the will (will.i.am) song is dubby."

"I made a real conscious effort this time to record music that was mine and that people would identify me with."

And if the single success is anything to go by, those albums will be flying off the shelves in no time Chez!
