Perez Hilton: 'Cheryl Cole needs to do more to break America'

Perez Hilton has said that Cheryl Cole must put in more time to be a musical success in the US.

Talking in a Skype chat with MSN, the gossip writer compared Cole's approach to that of her former X Factor mentee Cher Lloyd.

"Do I think Cheryl Cole will ever make it big in America?" Hilton said.

"I think there are a lot of factors at play there, but the biggest one is if she is willing to devote the time necessary to break as a musical artist in America."

He added: "Unlike the UK, we don't have national radio here that's relevant - it's a lot harder to get your songs on the radio across the United States.

"So it takes a lot of going to the stations and shaking hands, performing small shows."

He added: "That's actually something that Cher Lloyd did do and did it quite well, and Cher has had a great 2012 in America."
