They're arguably one of the most well-loved royal couples of all time.

So when Kate and William, aka the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, announced on Monday that they were expecting their first baby, stars all over the world were quick to congratulate the pair.

Cheryl Cole led the way as one of the first celebrity tweeters, writing: 'Im sooooooo excited that were having a royal baby!!!! Congratulations to Kate and Wills !!!!!!'

Olly Murs quickly followed, writing on his Twitter: 'Cool #royalbaby thats amazing news!! Dam it how comes they never mentioned it on the XTRA Factor last week haha.'

And Phillip Schofield joked that his This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby had predicted the joyous news the week before, writing: 'Well done @hollywills. She guessed a week ago! Congratulations!'

David Walliams, who recently announced he and wife Lara Stone are expecting their first child together, tweeted: 'Congratuwelldone William and Kate. Very happy for you both. Dx'

Virgin mogul Richard Branson wrote: Congrats to Kate & Will on expecting your first child. The happiest day of your life to look forward to.'

And stunning opera singer Katherine Jenkins wrote: 'What lovely news!! Congratulations to the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge!! #PitterPatter.'
