Dum dum dum - it's approximately seven hours and fifteen minutes until the X Factor finals kick off with Christopher, Jahmene and James competing for a shiny X Factor crown (/million pound recording contract). But while we're live blogging the event with the help of Janet Devlin, ex-judge Cheryl Cole has better things to do. Like sue the reality TV show for phenomenal amounts of money.

As you do.

Apparently the Girls Aloud star had a pay-or-play style contract on The X Factor USA - meaning that she would be compensated even if they broke her two-year contract on the show. Which they did. After only a couple of weeks.

Body language says it all on how uncomfortable it must have been for Cheryl Cole on The X Factor in the USA as Paula Abdul almost snuggles up to Simon Cowell le! aving Cheryl looking vulnerable and isolated on the first UK showing of the US XFactor Cheryl is being paid 1.4 million to not do this

But while she received 1.1 million for the first season (despite only appearing in a couple of episodes), Cheryl didn't see a penny of her 1.25 million fee for the second (which she hasn't appeared on at all). And reports say that she reckons she's owed additional damages too to cover those purple trousers wardrobe, housing and living expenses.

The complaint has been filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. And we're sure Simon's just loving it.

Meanwhile, Cheryl's replacement judge, Tulisa Contostavlos, has also been having a bit of a bad time backstage.

Maybe she should sue somebody too. Or just have a biscuit.

And if you don't care about Cheryl Cole's financial worries, but are too excited about the X Factor tonight to stop refreshing the internet, why not have a look at our favourite moments from this year's series.
