Cheryl Cole is suing Simon Cowell and the producers of The X Factor for more than US$2 million in unpaid salary and allowances.

According to the singer who was fired from The X Factor before its US premiere, her unique pay to play provided for full payment for two whole seasons.

In an 11-page lawsuit, filed on Friday, Cheryl claims that while she was paid US$1.8 million for Season One, the shows producers still owe her US$2 million for Season Two. She is also claiming US$100,000 wardrobe allowance, US$25,000 stylist allowance, US$15,000 a-month living allowance and US$2,500 a-month cost of living expenses.

The Sunday Mail quotes a lawyer as saying: This has sent shockwaves through Hollywood. It could be disastrous for Simon because he has publicly taken responsibility for firing Cheryl. He will almost certainly be deposed. And Cheryl could face huge legal fees if the case goes against her. Shes taking a big gamble because she was paid her full salary for Season One, even though she only worked for a matter of weeks.
