WARNING: Dont pack away the tissues used to mop up the tears of the Girls Aloud split.

You will need them for a little longer because Cheryl Cole is swan-diving her way into an extended break from the land of showbusiness. *Very sad face*

Im told the Call My Name star plans to take a sabbatical and it could last up to six months. Gulp.

A source close to Chezza, right, said: Cheryls a trouper when it comes to her work commitments and loves nothing more than making music and getting up on stage.

But she feels now that she needs a break and an opportunity to recharge her batteries as shes barely had any time off. From the moment she released Call My Name in May 2012 she was thrown back into promotional duties and toured second album A Million Lights around the UK and Ireland in October.

Then after a three-year hiatus Cheryl rejoined Girls Aloud in November. They released new material and a Greatest Hits album before embarking on their Ten: The Hits Tour in February.

Now the tour has finished Cheryls planning to take time out and disappear from the limelight. Shes in no rush to record a new album and has ruled out rejoining the X Factor panel.

Instead shes going to go to America and spend time in LA with boyfriend Tre Holloway. She may even plan to do some travellin! g with him and spend time seeing the world. Shes turning 30 in June and is becoming a woman. She wants to decide what path she wants to take in life.

Yesterday Cheryl hinted at her plans by tweeting: Im gonna take some time now to rest and recover!! I need some doggy love, family, friends & loved ones!

But fear not. Ex-Girls Alouders Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle have exciting projects lined up.

My source added: Sarahs dating dubstep producer Mark One and making amazing club records. Nicolas going down a cool left-of-field route and will have a new record out by the end of the year. Nadines making a new pop record and Kimberley has been inundated with offers of TV work and theatre roles. How blooming exciting.
