Cheryl Cole to follow release of new single Call My Name with a role on top US TV show Modern Family?

Cheryl Cole's new single Call My Name is released on 10 June

Producers of hit American TV programme Modern Family are reported to want Cheryl Cole to star in the show.

The 28-year-old had a failed crack at the US in May when she wasdropped from US X Factor - but she could come out on top as the comedy beat Simon Cowell's series in the ratings.

'It's a coveted slot,' a source at ABC tells the Daily Mirror.

'Everyone from Britney Spears to Lady Gaga have made it known that they would love to appear in it.

'It's a real honour to be asked to do it.'

The Geordie star is no stranger to acting - last year she landed a role in Hollywood movie What To Expect When You're Expecting, which is released in the UK next month.

She's a busy girl - her new single Call My Name got a pretty positive reception when it had its first play on the radio this morning.
