With Simon Cowell willing to pull out all the stops for next year's X Factor, the media mogul is already reportedly lining up the return of Cheryl Cole in a bid to boost ratings and has now apparently been 'holding secret talks' with her and is 'willing to offer any price'.

According to The Sun, Simon had a secret meet up with the 'Call My Name' star at his Beverly Hills mansion and is reportedly determined to axe Tulisa to make way for the former judge.

Friendship between the showbiz pair has previously been questionable, after Chezza was left humiliated last year after Cowell gave her place on the US panel to former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who has since moved to the UK show.

However, with viewers declining, Simon now apparently sees her as the 'saviour' to the British show, which has lost a whopping 3 million viewers this year. One Saturday night live programme saw ratings plummet to just 7.6million compared to the 19.4million fans who watched Cheryl and Simon, 53, in the 2010 final.

A source close to Simon last night told the publication: Hes desperate to get Cheryl back on X Factor UK because its lost its way."

The money on t! he table would be a fortune at least double what she got last time. She could have what she wanted.

According to the tabloid, Simons spokesman Max Clifford yesterday admitted that his client thinks a lot of Cheryl.

He added: It was him that gave her the break on X Factor in England and America. He wants to rebuild the relationship.

The source adds: He [Simon] doesnt want to see X Factor going down the way it is and he thinks Cheryl is the next best thing to him.

And Simon isn't go pleased with Tulisa's constant tabloid attention, it seems...

The insider revealed: Simon wants to get rid of Tulisa so this meeting will be part and parcel of that.

Gary Barlows future as a judge is also said to be in the balance as Simon thinks he has no ear for talent. Simon is also worried his act Christopher Maloney could win and dent what is left of X Factors credibility, after the scouser has been top of the votes majority of the weeks, even though the public seem to take a dislike to the contestant.

The source continued: Simon thinks hes very nice but who has Gary ever made into a star? He didnt want him in the last series but there was no one better and ITV backed Gary.
