Cheryl Cole is apparently on the brink of signing a lucrative contract that could make her the UK's answer to Oprah Winfrey.

According to The Daily Star, Chezza has been offered a deal to host her own chat show on Sky1, with a member of the Call My Name singer's team allegedly telling the tabloid that the network are "desperate" to sign the Geordie.

The insider revealed: "Theyve been in talks for a while and believe they will have wrapped up the deal within the next month.

They think she could be the UKs Oprah because of her reputation as the nations sweet-heart and are willing to pay big bucks to get her on board.

"They want the show to be emotional and confessional, not just another run-of-the-mill celebrity show.

The Girls Aloud star has avoided TV work since being sacked from The X Factor USA last year, with the newspaper adding that her manager Will.I.Am is trying to persuade her to make a return to our screens.

The source added: "Cheryls people think she would come across brilliantly. On X Factor she found it easy to connect w! ith people, and viewers loved her for it.

Cole has previously been linked to having her own TV show, with nothing materialising from the reports.
