Apparently Cheryl Cole's new career isn't going to be singing or talent show judging but sitting on expensive-looking soft furnishings talking about her life.

Last week she was chatting to Daybreak about doing a bit more acting (maybe she could take over from Michelle Keegan on Corrie?) and how Simon Cowell needs to buy her more presents.

Now she's given an interview to msn (never heard of them). In the chat, Chez, 29, addresses her decision to release an autobiography last year to set the record straight.

"It was a tough decision. It was a battle with myself, with how I normally because I am a very private person," admits Cheryl. But I was sick of reading lies, sick of reading misquotes.

"Enough was enough and it was time for me to put out my side of the story, and the truth. And if i was going to do it I was going to do it honestly and frankly and truthfully, and not beat around ! the bush.. So once I made the decision I knew it was going to be frank and open."

Have a look at her saying these words out loud and looking all glossy here:

Talking more about the book, Cheryl said: "It was the best thing for me at that time. Just putting all the rumours to bed."

Cheryl also explained why she was always so driven to make it in showbiz. "I couldn't see a future of doing anything other than performing. I didn't like school if I'm being honest. I would have settled for performing in any capacity.

"My dad was always saying 'Get your head out of the clouds'. But when I was eight or nine I said to him 'We'll be watching Top of The Pops and I'll be on there'".

She also credits her mate and likemusic man Will.i.am as the one who helped her make the decision to go solo. "He saw something in me before I saw it. He's a very, very wise character.

"He's been in the industry a long time. He's seen people come and go. I've learnt a lot from him."

There's been lots of chatter about what the lovely Girls Aloud fivesome might do next, now that the girlband are no more (it's taken over ten hours of pretty intense therapy for us to be able to write that sentence).
