Ouch! Cheryl Cole: My new back tattoo took 15 painful hours and it isn't finished yet!

Cheryl Cole caused a stir when she showed off her huge new back tattoo last week - and it's still a work in progress.

The singer's being talking about the inking - which features two large red roses that reach up her spine - after unveiling it on the first night of Girls Aloud's reunion tour in Newcastle.

I actually got it five months ago - but it's somewhere on my body you wouldn't expect people to see it very often,' Cheryl, 29, tells The Sun.

It was done by this amazing artist called Nikko Hurtado who basically travels round the world going to conventions.

It was really painful but I think I'm done with tattoos now. It wasn't for any particular reason, I just liked the design. It took 15 hours in total.'

And despite apparently being done' with tattoos, Cheryl let slip that the artwork is not yet complete when she responded to a Tweet from her tattoo artist.

@CherylCole thanks for the mention in your interview about your tattoo. Your the best lady,' American tattooist Nikko Hurtado told Cheryl via! Twitter.

The former X Factor judge replied: @NikkoHurtado of course!! You are unbelievably talented. Looking forward to having your work finished, see you soon :)'
