Cheryl Cole is said to be in talks to return to the X Factor USA, despite being previously fired from the show just weeks after filming started, new reports suggest.

According to the New York Post, Cheryl is in negotiations with producers about returning to the judging panel for the show's upcoming third season.

The 'Call My Name' singer was fired not long after she begun filming the US hit talent show first time round and has since appeared to completely rule out returning, filing a $2.3 million lawsuit against executives following her exit.

Previous rumours have suggested that Simon may be keen for Chezza to join the show again, although there are also rumours that she's wanted for the UK version of the competition. However, Cheryl's spokesperson has already shot down the speculation.

The panel is being questioned after LA Reid and Britney Spears confirmed that they will not be returning to the show and the future of the show's hosts Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian also looks uncertain.

The New York Post have said that Khloe may not be asked to return: "They are asking Mar! io to come back, but not Khloe," a source explained.

It seems like one person that does want Cheryl Cole back on the talent show is Robert Pattinson. However, he might not be such a fan of the singer moving to the US, it seems...

Speaking to the Mail Online, Rob said: "I would like to see Cheryl back on The UK X Factor. It is never going to be the same now Simon is not there anymore - but having Cheryl back would be good for the show."

Claiming that the show "hasn't been the same" since Cheryl and Simon decided to quit the show, Rob, who is currently filming in Australia, added: "It hasn't been the same since the two of them left - and if there is a chance to get her back Simon should. In fact Simon should do both shows. The US Show is midweek and the UK at weekends - come on Simon you have enough money to charter your own plane."
