Cheryl Cole, Little Mix and Girls Aloud snubbed by the BRIT awards, fans go crazy on Twitter

While One Direction, Olly Murs and Emeli Sandi will all have spent last night celebrating their BRIT nominations, Cheryl Cole, Girls Aloud and Little Mix were probably left feeling a little deflated.

Cheryl and the bands were all snubbed by the BRITS yesterday, with their fans taking to Twitter to share their outrage.

One Little Mix fan t! weeted: im sorry but little mix really do deserve a brit, while another wrote: TWO no. 1's ONE no. 3 and an AMAZING album, not to mention making it all over the world and no brit? #LittleMixAreMixersBrit.

Girls Aloud and Cheryl Cole fans were equally as annoyed.

One fan tweeted: Brits f**k of @cherylcole or @girlsaloud don't need some plastic award they already know there amazing and we support them all the way!

Another fan claimed that Girls Aloud deserved a lifetime achievement award writing: Tbh Girls Aloud deserve that Special Recognition Award, they have been in the music industry for 10 years..

One disgruntled Cheryl fan blasted the awards saying: The fact @CherylCole didn't get nominated just PROVES that the Brit award people don't know what REAL music is.

So why werent Little Mix, Cheryl Cole and Girls Aloud nominated this year?

Well, with Girls Aloud we can understand why-they only released one song and a greatest hits last year and neither were exactly a roaring success.

Cheryl Cole on the other hand is a tricky one.

Call My Name proved that Cheryl still held favour with the buying public by going straight to the top of the charts following a sizeable amount of time away from the spotlight.

However, with album A Million Lights failing to top the chart! s and sec! ond single Under the Sun not even making into the top ten it isnt the biggest shock in the world that Chez wasnt nominated.

As for Little Mix, we were slightly surprised that they didnt at least get a Best British single nod.

The girls have had a brilliant year scoring a number one with Wings and a number three hit with DNA.

Debut album DNA also garnered a surprisingly positive response from even the most discerning of music critics.

The Guardian praised the debut saying: When off-kilter beats collide with impeccable harmonies and pleasingly daft lyrics (literally, in the case of Madhouse, with its "Men in white coats, don't take me back there" line), it sounds like pop as it should be..."

Apparently, the Best British single catergory is based on single sales and the girls missed out on a nod from the BRITS by a whisker.

Never mind girls, theres always next year.
