While other designers have dabbled, for Cheryl Cole's favourite designer, David Koma, the Sixties never fail to inspire.
Famous for his trademark boxy A-line skirts and sculptural shapes, his latest collection contained plenty for fans of the decade - and Geordie pop princesses - to love but never strayed too uncritically into the past.
Instead, Koma's vision saw the decade get a modern makeover, with a result that looked more Barbarella than Twiggy.
Futuristic: Koma's sculptural pieces offered an alternative interpretation of the 1960's
Striking: Sculptural dresses came in a limited palette
PVC free: Despite appearances, Koma's fabrics were all natural
Modern: Koma's dress taps into the emerging metallics trend
Watched by the Saturday's Mollie King and singer Pixie Lott, model after model sashayed down the catwalk in a succession of knockout party dresses that riffed on retro motifs including neat high collars and generous bell-shaped skirts.
It wasn't straight Sixties though: Koma updated the decade by working in 21st century touches such as sexy cutaway shoulders, leather peplums and sheer panels.
Corded leather collars and a stark palette of bright cherry red, black, camel and a beautiful cadet blue added drama, as did the subtle flock prints and the odd hint of shimmer.
Metallics, a trend that's looking set to dominate come September, made an appearance, although true to form, Koma eschewed obvious golds and silvers for a delicate metallic blue.
Although the collection focused on pop princess friendly dresses, there were a few alternatives for day, including a neat skirt suit - another recurring trend for autumn - and a couple of beautifully cut leather and shearling jackets.
Show stopping: Koma served up some fabulous pop star friendly party dresses, which were styled with Alain Quillici's sky high platform wedge shoes
Along with old friend Cheryl Cole, Koma's bombshell party dresses have gained him fans among the celeb set, many of whom turned out to support him.
Speaking ahead of the show, Pixie Lott, said: 'I am so looking forward to David Ko! ma tonigh! t. Moschino has been my favourite show so far, I wanted to wear all of the stuff. It's going back to the 80s and 90s, they're bringing it all back in a current way, I loved it.
'I can't make any shows in the week sadly because I am in the studio all day and all night recording. My new album will be out later this year, in the summer, I am so excited.
The songstress was joined by boyfriend Oliver Cheshire who added: 'I am really enjoying fashion week. I prefer the men's but I like to see a few of the women's clothes too!
'They usually coincide anyway and vibe off each other. I can pick trends out.'
Also completing the blonde front row was presenter Laura Whitmore who said: 'Fashion Week so far has been amazing. I just went to Issa and saw Cara Delevingne, she has this strut, this amazing attitude.
Mollie King agreed: 'My jaw dropped when I saw her, major girl crush. I also went to Julien MacDonald and Moschino, which was amazing and I will be going to some more shows with the girls on Monday and Tuedsday.'
Mollie, who has been over the pond in the US filming for a new documentary called Chasing The Saturdays, added: 'I love LA but home is always going to be London.'
Round of applause: The shy designer briefly appeared on the catwalk at the end of the show
Speaking backstage after the show, Koma revealed that the new collection was the result of some serious positive thinking.
'This collection is very, very personal to me,' he told MailOnline. 'The company is growing and [because of that] I now have time to really enjoy what I do.'
Perhaps not surprising then, that he was happy to admit that this is his favourite collection to date.
So with that in mind, can we, and his celebrity fans, expect lot! s of exci! ting things from the Georgia-born designer in future?
Koma wouldn't be drawn, except to say: 'The future? You can just expect more. More, more more!'
Trend: The skirt suit has been a big hit at LFW
Drama: Curved leather collars were used as a focal point
Texture: Simple shifts were given a makeover with mixed media
